Author, actress, singer, radio host and poet, Saba Anglana is the guest of the last episode of VISIONI | RAIY. Taking an imaginary leap to the beginning of her prolific artistic career, Saba tells us about the shift from studying art history, which has shaped her critical gaze and her obsession with harmony, to working in theater, cinema and on radio.
A profoundly eclectic multidisciplinary artist, in her works Saba examines and conceptualises, cultural and anthropological heritage—both on a physical and spiritual level—of the cultures, feelings, Weltanschauung, the vision of the world that are typical of a woman, recounting her condition of hybrid, as an artist and a human being.
VISIONI | RAIY is a series of conversations with Italian-Ethiopians artists and creatives. We talk about their life, work and vision—raiy in Amharic—delving into the different aspects of an Italian and Ethiopian identity, between presence and absence withing geographical, cultural and social boundaries.
VISIONI | RAIY is curated and produced by GRIOT in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Addis Abeba. The series is presented on the occasion of the XXI Week of The Italian Language in the World.
