Creative women joining forces is always a synonym of success as Femme Culture proudly proved last friday at the event created around Sophie Mayanne’s acclaimed exhibition Behind The Scars.

For those who don’t know who these incredibly talented ladies are, Femme Culture is an all-female London-based record label, djs collective and cultural hub which organises parties and aims at championing women in the arts and supporting the LGBTQ community. Sophie Mayanne is a 24-year-old British fashion and portrait photographer who, believing in a more personal and non-standardized concept of beauty, decided to start exploring the deep and unique underworld of scars with her photography.

“We were so excited to curate a party around Sophie Mayanne’s incredible project. It had a really warm vibe and it felt like people were there not just to party and lose themselves to the music but really immerse themselves in the images and stories that surrounded them.

We wanted to take the project a step further on the night with collaborations from other amazing female artists. Sophie LS’s spoken word performance was immense with Franz Lang’s creating beautiful illustrations inspired by the project and party,” Elkka (FC) told us speaking of the event.

“It was a DREAM. So much support from all the artists and DJs involved,” Ludo (FC) added. “Seeing people walk out of the projection room with their faces clearly moved by the photographies made it all worth it. Also shout out to the Five Miles crew for helping us make this event come to life. And watch this space for our Femme Culture October edition…”

We will definitely keep an eye on Femme Culture and their future events. Go girls!
